Trevor Smith

Woodside, 6-2 senior guard

Trevor Smith, Woodside
  • Scored a game-high 17 points — including 15 in the second half — to help the Wolverines come from behind to beat Patrick Henry of Roanoke and win the Class 5 championship, the program’s first state title since 2005
  • Class 5 State Player of the Year
  • Class 5 Region B Player of the Year
  • First-team All-Peninsula District
  • Helped lead the Wolverines to the Class 5 Region B title
  • Averaged 18 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals
  • Will play for Richmond

  • Averaged 16 points, six rebounds, six assists and 3.9 steals, though he didn’t play in the fourth quarter in 12 games because of lopsided wins

Menchville, 6-4 senior guard

  • Peninsula District Player of the Year
  • First-team All-Class 5 Region B
  • Helped lead the Monarchs to a 22-0 record during the regular season
  • Averaged 13 points, seven rebounds, three steals and two blocks
  • Signed with Virginia Military Institute

Kareem Stagg

Oscar Smith, 6-8 sophomore forward

  • Named second-team All-Tidewater in football

Princess Anne, 6-1 freshman guard

  • First-team All-State Class 5
  • First-team All-Class 5 Region A
  • First-team All-Beach District
  • Helped lead the Cavaliers to the state tournament and to the program’s best season since Princess Anne won a state title in 1999
  • Averaged 19.5 points, four rebounds and three assists — including a season-high 38 points in a win over First Colonial in a Class 5 Region A quarterfinal — and scored 506 points in his freshman season

Ryan Hite

King’s Fork, 6-3 senior guard

  • First-team All-State Class 4
  • First-team All-Class 4 Region A
  • Helped lead the Bulldogs to the Class 4 Region A title and helped them go wire-to-wire as the No. 1 team in Hampton Roads
  • Averaged 10 points, 10 rebounds and led the team in both steals (3.8) and blocks (3.0), and was second in assists, though he didn’t play in the fourth quarter in 12 games because of lopsided wins

Adrean Newton

Maury, 6-0 sophomore guard

  • Second-team All-State Class 5
  • First-team All-Eastern District
  • Helped lead the Commodores to back-to-back state tournament berths
  • Averaged 10.5 points, six assists, four rebounds and two steals

Christian “CJ” McPherson

Catholic, 6-3 senior guard

  • First-team All-State VISAA Division I
  • First-team All-Tidewater Conference
  • Helped lead the Crusaders to the Tidewater Conference regular-season and tournament titles
  • Averaged 14 points, five rebounds and two steals

  • Will play football for Hampton University

Ben Nacey

Cox, 6-9 junior center

  • Beach District Player of the Year
  • Averaged 19.8 points, 12.7 rebounds and 4.7 blocks this season
  • Had several triple-doubles, including 23 points, 16 rebounds and 10 blocks in a win over Great Bridge

Donovan Raikes

Heritage, 6-5 senior forward

  • First-team All-State Class 4
  • First-team All-Class 4 Region A
  • Averaged 16.3 points, 9.2 rebounds and 1.7 blocks
  • Helped lead the Hurricanes to the state tournament for the first time since 2016

Larry “Trey” Williams

Oscar Smith, 6-5 junior guard

  • Second-team All-State Class 6
  • First-team All-Class 6 Region A
  • Helped lead the Tigers to the region title and state tournament
  • Averaged 14.2 points, 4.2 assists, 2.5 steals and shot 48% from 3-point range
  • Scored a game-high 17 points — including three 3-pointers — to help the Tigers beat Forest Park in a state quarterfinal
