Class 4 Region A semifinals

Smithfield 2, Great Bridge 1

The Packers handed the Wildcats (14-1-2) their only loss of the season to advance to the region championship match and ensure a state tournament berth.

Jamestown 6, Warwick 2

G- J: Cooper 4, Buckley.

Max Cooper scored four goals at Wanner Stadium as the Eagles cruised into Thursday’s championship match and booked a ticket back to the state tournament.

Lafayette 3, York 1

Class 2 Region A semifinals

Poquoson 7, Thomas Jefferson 0

The Islanders (10-9) will travel to Arcadia in the region final at 6 p.m. Thursday, then head to the state quarterfinals. Lucas Markley led Poquoson with four goals against the Vikings from Richmond.

Arcadia 6, Nandua 3

The Firebirds won an all-Eastern Shore match to clinch a state tournament bid.

Girls soccer

Class 5 Region A semifinals

Maury 3, Menchville 0

G: Green, Mathews-Jamison, Dixon.

Maury (14-1-1) advanced to Friday’s region final and clinched a state berth on the strength of goals from Xiomari Green and Ainsley Mathews-Jamison, followed by Maddie Dixon’s free kick.

Nansemond River 13, Bethel 0

G: Lynch 3, Lindsey 2, M. Carr, K. Carr, B. Jackson, Hare, Berrini, Kershasky, Dupree, Campbell.

Mya Lynch and Carlyn Lindsey paced the Warriors in a shutout victory.

Class 4 Region A semifinals

Great Bridge 2, Jamestown 1

G- J: Carlson. GB: Grieco.

The Wildcats improved to 12-2-3, ended the Eagles’ season and advanced to the region final against Smithfield or Deep Creek.

Class 3 Region A semifinals

Lafayette 8, New Kent 0

The Rams cruised and will host the region championship at 7:30 p.m. Thursday against York at Wanner Stadium before going to the state tournament.

York 2, Tabb 1 (OT)

The Falcons won 4-3 on penalty kicks against their traditional arch-rivals to gain a state berths.
