Sign up for Viewpoints, an opinion-oriented newsletter from The Virginian-Pilot and Daily Press

The Virginian-Pilot & Daily Press Editorial Board announced the launch of a weekly newsletter to deliver a sampling of the best editorials, most compelling columns, thoughtful political cartoons and strongest letters to the editor directly to readers.

“We know our readers are deeply engaged with the issue of this community, as well as the world beyond our shores,” said Kris Worrell, editor-in-chief. “This newsletter is another way we can connect folks with opinion content that speaks to what matters.”

Called Viewpoints, it will be delivered once a week. Interested readers should sign up today.

The opinion page serves as a town square for Hampton Roads — a place where residents and officials alike turn for debate and discussion about the urgent issues facing our communities, our commonwealth and our nation.

Viewpoints expands that reach by sending highlights from our weekly offerings to reader inboxes. These are the pieces that have Hampton Roads talking, and where readers can be part of the discussion.

The opinion newsletter adds to the stable of email options available from The Pilot and Daily Press, including our Breaking News, business, lifestyle and city-focused newsletters already available.

“Everyone has an opinion about the day’s events. That’s evident across the internet, especially on social media,” said Brian Colligan, opinion editor. “But the opinion page strips away the bombast, offers pieces that are grounded in fact, and highlights community voices discussing the issues that matter most to Hampton Roads.”
