City Council approved the construction of a new apartment building on a .65-acre vacant lot behind the building, near the corner of Princess Anne Road and Lord Dunmore Drive.
Designs call for the new three-story apartment building to have 18 units, according to city planning documents. The proposed building will have the same design, materials and colors as the two existing apartment buildings, known as 525 Historic Kempsville Apartments.
This additional building will result in a total of 186 multi-family units for the entire development. Originally, deigns called for a mixed-use building with office space on the lower stories.
