A man died Sunday morning when his vehicle crashed into a sound barrier wall and caught fire in Newport News.
Police responded to the crash at 10:47 a.m. at Hornsby Lane and Delegate Boulevard. Hornsby Lane and the on-ramp to Jefferson Avenue from Interstate 64 east were closed for more than an hour while the crash team investigated.
The vehicle was on fire when officers arrived.
There was one person inside the vehicle, a man in his 60s, according to police. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have not said what caused the crash.
