Virginia Beach’s Sandler Center plans to bring back live performances in 2021

According to Sandler’s website, the first ticketed event on next year’s calendar is “Disney Moana Jr.” presented by Norfolk’s Hurrah Players, which runs, tentatively, from March 11–14.

Virginia Beach — With 2020 in its rearview, Virginia Beach’s Sandler Center for the Performing Arts is gearing up to bring live performances back in the new year.

“Together AGAIN!” — the venue’s re-opening strategy — was created using industry standards and recommendations, directives from local, state, and federal governments, guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, World Health Organization and health departments.

“Our first priority when creating our reopening strategy was the safety of our employees, guests, and performers. With that mindset, we created a comprehensive reopening plan that encompasses the full event experience,” David Semon, Spectra’s general manager at the Sandler Center, said in the release. “We want everyone who enters the Sandler Center to know what precautionary measure we’ve implemented. We are looking forward to being Together Again to enjoy arts and entertainment in Virginia Beach.”

The first scheduled event to return will be a worship service hosted by Anchor Church on Jan. 3, 2021.

According to the release, the Center will implement a host of new regulations and operating procedures designed to reduce the spread of the coronavirus and keep staff, guests and performers safe as the country continues to battle the health pandemic.

Face coverings or masks are mandatory at all times while inside the venue and guests will be required to keep 6 feet between them and any other attendees. Cleaning procedures have been ramped up, too, meaning high-touch surfaces will be cleaned frequently and hand sanitizer will be available throughout the performance hall.

And if you’ve been around anyone who is sick or feeling under the weather yourself? Please, stay home, the staff asks.

The venue’s box office will remain closed until further notice. For ticketed events, guests are asked to download digital tickets to their mobile devices. Once the box office reopens, patrons are encouraged to use card payments instead of cash.

For any ticketing questions, email the box office at info@sandlercenter.org or message the Center on Facebook by visiting facebook.com/sandlercenter.

Event updates and policies and procedures can be found on at sandlercenter.org and on its social media pages on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
