norfolk — Thanks to Crown Royal, live entertainment venues, restaurants and bars in the Norfolk market feeling the pinch from COVID-19 are encouraged to apply for a little bit of relief.

While businesses and workers in the live events industry continue to wait for another round of sweeping federal assistance, the Canadian whisky company and Main Street Alliance — a self-described “national network of small business coalitions working to build a new voice for small businesses on important public policy issues” — will provide $10,000 grants to 25 businesses in select cities, including the Norfolk market.

Eligibility is extended to live entertainment venues, restaurants and bars that hosted live events. Preference will be given to those who did not receive any federal COVID relief funding. Grant funds should be used to cover only business expenses such as rent, payroll or PPE purchases. The funds cannot be used for any personal expenses.

The application deadline for the first round of funding is 5 p.m. Monday. Award announcements will be made in early December.
