Beach Byte: USO Experience begins in June, dog days weekends being held at Chick’s Beach Club

Celebrate the military and their families at the USO Experience Virginia Beach on June 1 through June 5 at the oceanfront. The weeklong event features a series of athletic, recreational and educational events. Activities for service members include horseback riding, paddle boarding, surfing and kayaking. Civilians can learn about the armed forces in the military village and enjoy free nightly concerts. The USO Village opens daily on the beach and boardwalk at 17th street. Dog days of summer

Customers at Chick’s Oyster Bar can now bring man’s best friend to the waterfront Beach Club. Enjoy live music with your furry friend every Friday through Sunday. A new menu, “The Dog House,” features gourmet hot dogs with creative toppings such as buffalo sauce and bleu cheese crumble, pulled pork and barbecue sauce and queso with mango and pico de gallo.
