VIRGINIA BEACH — Legal Sea Foods, a renowned New England-based brand, opened this month in Town Center — steps away from the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts.
It offers dishes such as New England clam chowder, baked haddock, Maine lobster roll, crab cakes and a local favorite, she-crab bisque. It also has a sushi and sake menu.
The 8,000-square-foot restaurant is decorated with contemporary furniture, natural wood tones and is accented with blue and yellow hues. It has a three-sided bar, ample patio seating and a lounge to accommodate more than 50 people.
The spot also has a private dining room called “Ship’s Cabin” which pays tribute to Virginia Beach’s Joseph Hoggard’s landmark restaurant Ships Cabin in Norfolk. A formal naming dedication and sign unveiling will take place later this spring, according to a press release.
Town Center is Legal Sea Foods’ second location in Virginia. The other is in Arlington. The company operates 23 restaurants on the East Coast and a quality control center on Boston Harbor. Its tagline is “If it isn’t fresh, it isn’t Legal.”
“Virginia Beach is a community with rich coastal history and a passion for seafood, and we are eager to give them a taste of our New England-style dishes and warm hospitality,” said Matt King, president and chief operating officer of Legal Sea Foods, in a press release.
