At work: I am an emergency physician with Emergency Physicians of Tidewater, working clinically in a level I trauma center. I am also involved in academic medicine, teaching the next generation of emergency physicians as assistant professor of emergency medicine and associate program director for Eastern Virginia Medical School’s Emergency Medicine residency program.
Home and family: I grew up in Albania, a small country in Europe. Currently, I live in Norfolk with my husband and our two children.
Volunteer activities: I assist the Albanian/immigrant communities with health care needs and successful integration in U.S. society.
Inside Business
Motivating factor: I enjoy teaching, and being able to integrate education with my passion for medicine has been truly rewarding.
Advice to young people: Don’t compare your success to others; we each have our own path.
Professional goal in five years: Continue to provide great care to my patients and expand my skills as a graduate medical educator.
The one thing I’d change about Hampton Roads: Improve access to health care.
Region’s biggest asset: Location, diversity and amazing people.
Downtime: Traveling with my family is one of my favorite things to do. I also like going to the beach and reading.
