At work: I’m a certified investor actively engaged in the day-to-day management of several of my businesses. These range from behavioral health, as well as senior care residential facilities, along with a year-round educational center and a brewery. I am also working on the second location of a new restaurant chain I founded along with my wife.

Volunteer activities: I mentor emerging business owners and youth and am currently engaged in philanthropic negotiations supporting higher education.

Home and family: I grew up in Chicago; today, my wife Darmeshia and I live in Suffolk with our children Simeon, Zyana, Ymani and Keyon.

Motivating factor: Being a provider for my family and community. I enjoy providing in a way that transcends traditional limitations.

Advice for women in business: Know who you are, command who you are and never set a limit — and never let anyone limit you.

The one thing I would change about Hampton Roads: Embrace our diversity and break away from traditionally limited thinking.

Professional goal in five years: A diverse portfolio worth over $1 billion.
