Navy F/A-18 blown overboard from Norfolk-based carrier while in Mediterranean Sea

An F/A-18 fighter was blown off the flight deck of the Norfolk-based carrier USS Harry S. Truman during some unexpected heavy weather in the Mediterranean Sea, the Navy said.

The accident on July 8 came while the carrier was in the midst of a resupply at sea.

One sailor suffered minor injuries, but is now in stable condition and expected to fully recover.

The Navy is investigating the incident.
