An F/A-18 fighter was blown off the flight deck of the Norfolk-based carrier USS Harry S. Truman during some unexpected heavy weather in the Mediterranean Sea, the Navy said.
The accident on July 8 came while the carrier was in the midst of a resupply at sea.
One sailor suffered minor injuries, but is now in stable condition and expected to fully recover.
The Navy is investigating the incident.
An F/A-18 costs $67 million.
