Hampton police investigating 2 fatal shootings at same townhome complex

Dispatchers were called at 8:24 a.m. for a shooting in the 2100 block of Newton Road.

Hampton police are investigating two fatal shootings within 10 hours at the same complex.

Dispatchers were called at 8:24 a.m. Sunday for a shooting in the 2100 block of Newton Road, which is in the Avalon Townhomes complex.

A 29-year-old man, who has not been publicly identified, was shot inside a home and pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said they’re investigating the incident as a homicide, but did not provide details about the motive or circumstance. The police division said it did not have any suspect information to release.

Another fatal shooting was reported Saturday in Hampton around 11 p.m. in the 2100 block of East Roger Peed Drive.

Police found a 39-year-old man with gunshot wounds inside a home. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police haven’t said much about either shooting. A spokesperson for the police division did not immediately respond to a question about whether they were believed to be related.
