U.S. Marshals Service issues reward in search for Norfolk shooting suspect

The U.S. Marshals Service issued a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest of a man wanted in connection with a Norfolk shooting and several other violent crimes around Hampton Roads.

Brian Lamar Askew, 35, is wanted in a midday Friday shooting in Norfolk’s Campostella neighborhood that left a woman with life-threatening injuries. Investigators say Askew knew the woman but did not specify the nature of their relationship.

The woman was in stable condition by Monday morning, according to police.

Police have warrants on file for Askew for aggravated malicious wounding and several gun charges related to the shooting.

According to the U.S. Marshals Service, Askew is a documented gang member and should be considered armed and dangerous.

Several agencies around the region have warrants on file for Askew.

Askew is wanted by state police on two counts of hit and run and one count each of firing from a moving vehicle, firing into an occupied vehicle, attempted malicious wounding and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in connection with a June 7 incident.

In addition to the Friday shooting, Norfolk police have warrants for aggravated assault, brandishing a firearm and assault and battery for multiple incidents in April and May. The Chesapeake Sheriff’s Office has a warrant for malicious wounding for an offense in February.
