Police looking for multiple people in connection with Aug. 2 killing of 15-year-old boy in Portsmouth

Portsmouth — Police are looking for multiple people in connection with a shooting that killed a 15-year-old boy Monday in Portsmouth.

The shooting happened around 8:30 p.m. in the 200 block of Chowan Drive, off Airline Boulevard. Officers found the 15-year-old, who was taken a local hospital. He died later because of his injuries, police said in a news release.

Police did not release the boy’s name, but his family has been notified.

Officials posted video surveillance footage from a nearby building on the department’s Twitter page Wednesday, showing multiple people walking down Chowan Drive.

The suspects are seen shooting at the 15-year-old boy before they return to what looks like a black four-door car. Over 30 gunshots were fired during the shooting.

It is unclear who how many shooters were involved.

Police did not release information about a possible motive.
