Man charged in shooting death of 19-year-old in Portsmouth

PORTSMOUTH — A man has been charged with murder in the shooting death of a 19-year-old earlier this week in Portsmouth, according to police.

About 8:30 p.m. Monday, police were called about shots being fired near the 20 block of Woodland Street. A 19-year-old walked into a hospital soon after, but he died shortly after 9 p.m., police said in a news release Wednesday.

He was identified by police as Darius D. Whitted.

Taiquan M. Moore, 22, is charged with second-degree murder in his death.
