NEWPORT NEWS — A 36-year-old man has died of his injuries following an assault in a Newport News bar and restaurant.
The assault happened in the early morning hours of Aug. 3 at Triple Effectz Ultra Lounge, located in the 400 block of Denbigh Boulevard, according to Newport News police. Police were called to the lounge for a report of an unconscious person at 1:41 a.m.
At the scene, officers found Justin Michael Dudney, of Newport News, had been assaulted. No weapons were involved in the assault, a police spokesperson said.

Dudney was taken to a local hospital and died from his injuries Thursday, police said.
A representative for Triple Effectz could not be immediately reached for comment Friday afternoon.
Xavier Demonye Bonilla, 27, is charged with voluntary manslaughter in connection with the incident. He was initially charged with aggravated assault Aug. 4, prior to Dudney’s death.
