NORFOLK — Tuition and other expenses for Norfolk State University students will increase starting in the fall.
The university Board of Visitors voted last week for “modest increases” on Friday according to a university press release. Full-time in-state tuition of undergraduate students will increase by $174, bringing it to $5,926 annually.
For out-of-state undergraduates, it will raise by $508 to $17,428 annually.
Graduate students can expect to see in-state tuition increase from $8,820 to $9,084 annually — a $264 increase — and out-of-state tuition to increase from $20,872 to $21,498.
Other fees such as the mandatory fees for all students will increase by $114 to $3,984 and room and board by $326 to $11,170.
In recent years, many state universities in Virginia have frozen tuition in response to the governor’s request to flatten tuition rates and additional state funding. NSU also froze tuition in the 2019-20 school year.
