913 new coronavirus cases reported in Virginia

The Virginia Department of Health reported 913 new coronavirus cases Saturday, bringing the state’s tally to 90,801.

At least 2,215 Virginians have died from the virus as of Saturday morning, up 41 from Friday.

Of the total cases, 87,367 are confirmed and 434 are probable, meaning those patients are symptomatic and have a known exposure to the illness.

Throughout the state, there have been 8,113 cases in long-term care facilities and 1,239 deaths, according to data from the VDH.

The state’s seven-day percentage of positive PCR tests held steady at 7.2%. Virginia reported 8,676 new PCR tests were performed. The state’s total now stands at 1,123,927.

There are 1,256 people hospitalized for COVID-19, according to the Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association. Of those, 905 have confirmed cases and 352 are awaiting test results. So far, 12,007 COVID-19 patients have been discharged.

  • 60-69: 8,552 cases, 336 deaths
  • 50-59: 13,154 cases, 138 deaths
  • 40-49: 15,219 cases, 60 deaths
  • 30-39: 16,704 cases, 18 deaths
  • 20-29: 17,331 cases, 4 deaths
  • 10-19: 7,021 cases, 0 deaths
  • 0-9: 3,127 cases, 0 deaths

The VDH did not report ages for 958 cases and two deaths.

Since the pandemic began in Virginia, 46,425 women have had cases and 1,084 women have died, while 43,840 men have had cases and 1,126 men have died. Of the state tally, 536 cases don’t have a reported sex and 5 deaths don’t have a reported sex.
