Free Lyft rides worth up to $15 will be available to those out celebrating Cinco de Mayo with alcohol, according to a press release from Drive Safe Hampton Roads.
The free service will be available between 4 p.m. Friday and 4 a.m. Saturday to folks who are at least 21 and celebrating with alcohol, the release said. Rides that cost over $15 will be offered at a reduced rate.
To take advantage of the offer, riders will need to download the Lyft app to their phones, then enter the 757 Sober Ride Code in the app’s payment tab, under the “Add Lyft Pass” option. The promo code will be posted at 3:00 p.m. Friday at www.DriveSafeHR.org/757SoberRide and can be used only during the stated period for rides that originate or end in Hampton Roads.
Over the past three years, there were 19 alcohol-related crashes in Hampton Roads during the 12-hour period on Cinco de Mayor that the rides are being offered, according to a release from Drive Safe Hampton Roads. Two people were killed in those crashes and 13 others were seriously injured, the release said.
