Garbage truck catches fire, closes southbound lanes of Campostella Bridge in Norfolk

Norfolk — Southbound lanes of the Campostella Bridge were closed after a garbage truck caught fire Tuesday in Norfolk.

Dispatchers received a call around 3:45 p.m. about a truck fire. No injuries were reported and it is unclear what caused the blaze.

Northbound lanes remained open to traffic, but Norfolk police said in a Twitter post the bridge’s southbound lanes closed “for a few hours.”

As of 9 p.m., dispatchers said southbound lanes were open and clear.
