Two elderly people rescued from burning home south of Moyock

TULLS CREEK, N.C. — Firefighters rescued two elderly people Sunday morning from a burning home on Tulls Creek Road.

Crews responded at midnight to the home south of Moyock where they found the front and roof of the single-story house ablaze, according to a release from the Crawford Volunteer Fire Department. A neighbor reported three people were inside.

One person escaped through a back door.

Firefighters and a deputy with the Currituck County Sheriff’s Office entered the home and rescued two elderly people through the back door as the fire was quickly spreading.

Those rescued were not seriously injured, and were taken to the home of nearby family members, the release said. The fire was extinguished in about three hours.
