ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. — A man was found shot to death early Wednesday lying near a creek that flows through Elizabeth City.
Police found Daquan Mercer, 21, lying unresponsive in an open grassy area close to Charles Creek, between Herrington Drive and B Street, at 1:10 a.m., according to a release from the Elizabeth City Police Department.
Mercer had been shot several times, the release said.
