Woman seriously injured while skydiving in Suffolk

A woman was seriously injured Saturday, May 8, 2021, when she landed on top of an airport hanger while skydiving in Suffolk.

Suffolk — A skydiving incident left a woman seriously injured Saturday morning in Suffolk.

Police, fire and EMS responded to a call at the Suffolk Executive Airport around 11:30 a.m.

An unidentified woman landed on top of an aircraft hangar near the 1200 block of Gene Bolton Drive, where Skydive Suffolk is located.

Rescuers used a ladder truck to reach the victim. She suffered serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.

The investigation is ongoing, said Diana Klink, a spokesperson for the city.
