Pedestrian dies after being struck by vehicle in Virginia Beach

Virginia Beach — One person died after a vehicle-pedestrian crash Monday in Virginia Beach.

Police said in a Twitter post around 8:30 p.m. the accident happened in 5800 block of Northampton Boulevard. All westbound lanes at Baker Road are closed to traffic.

Officials advise drivers to use alternate routes to avoid the area.

Police did not identify the person who died, nor did they release additional details about the crash.
