Virginia Beach-themed Nike SB Dunk shoes set for pre-order Saturday

The moment has finally come.

A Virginia Beach-themed Nike SB Dunk sneaker will be available for pre-order online on Saturday.

Two social media accounts hosted an Instagram contest in March — each entry had to represent a city of the contestants’ choice — when U.S. Coast Guardsman Kenny Jones won representing his hometown of Virginia Beach.

Though the sneakers will be in limited supply, pre-order is available at reverselandconcrete.com, starting at 3 p.m. with a price tag of $899. Purchases will be on a first come, first serve basis.

“Custom costs,” Jones said in an Instagram post after comments about the shoe’s price being too high.

The shoe’s developer, Reverse Land, and Jones said sourcing, labor and material are among some of the deciding factors for the price.

Nike did not take part in the shoe’s development, nor is the brand affiliated with the sneaker.
