Old Dominion’s football homecoming will be Sept. 23

The Sept. 23 game against Texas A&M-Commerce will serve as Old Dominion’s homecoming, the Monarchs announced Thursday, along with revealing promotions for the rest of their six-game home football schedule.

ODU’s first home game is Sept. 9 against the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns, which will be First Responders Night. Fire responders who present a valid badge will receive ticket discounts.

The Sept. 16 game against Wake Forest will be Youth Day. Children 12 and under can receive a discounted ticket and have postgame field access for photos with the ODU Spirit Squad and Big Blue mascot.

The Sept. 23 kickoff against Texas A&M-Commerce tentatively is set for 3:30 p.m. The Lions, who won the NCAA Division II championship, moved up to Division I in 2022 and are in the FCS Southland Conference.

The Oct. 21 game against Appalachian State will be the Oyster Bowl and will be part of Family Weekend.

The Nov. 4 contest versus Coastal Carolina will be Military Appreciation Day. Discounted tickets for all active-duty, retired and military personnel with valid IDs will be available.

ODU’s regular-season finale Nov. 25 against Georgia State will be Senior Day.

The Monarchs, coming off a 3-9 season, will begin their season Sept. 2 at Virginia Tech, which they upset in last year’s opener at S.B. Ballard Stadium.
