All-American post player Elizabeth Kitley and top-notch outside shooter Cayla King said they’ll return to play their fifth seasons for Virginia Tech, greatly improving the Hokies’ chances of repeating or even exceeding the unprecedented Final Four season they just concluded.

That fifth year of eligibility was granted by the NCAA to athletes whose careers were affected by COVID-19.

Kitley, a two-time ACC Player of the Year, made the All-America second team and guided Tech to the championship of the ACC Tournament and an NCAA regional. She is the Hokies’ all-time leader in points, field goals, blocks and double-doubles.

King has made 225 3-pointers as a Hokie, fourth on Tech’s all-time list. She averaged 8.3 points and 3.3 rebounds this season.

Before coming to coach Kenny Brooks’ Hokies, they were teammates for Northwest Guilford High in Greensboro, North Carolina. Since they arrived at Tech, the Hokies are 83-33.
