ODU men’s basketball adds twin brothers, including top-rated Canadian recruit Vasean Allette

Old Dominion head coach Jeff Jones now has four players in his 2023 recruiting class after the addition of Canadian twin brothers Thursday.

NORFOLK — Old Dominion is having twins.

The Monarchs announced Thursday that twin brothers Vasean and Yamari Allette have signed as part of their 2023 basketball recruiting class.

The brothers starred for United Scholastic Academy in Toronto.

Vasean Allette joins the Monarchs as the top-ranked Canadian player in the class of 2023 as well as a top-100 player in North America, according to 247Sports.com.

Vasean Allette was a standout in the 2022 Under Armour Association, where he averaged 29.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.6 steals per game on the summer circuit. He was named the MVP of the Biosteel All-Canadian game, in which he scored 30 points with seven steals and two assists.

“Vasean is a dynamic scorer that can create for himself and his teammates,” ODU coach Jeff Jones said in a statement. “He is relentless on the court and consistently in attack mode. His work ethic is second to none, and he desperately wants to be the very best.”

Yamari Allette was a combo guard as a senior and averaged 16.7 points, 3.2 assists and 6.7 rebounds per game. He earned second-team all-tournament honors at the prestigious Beach Ball Classic in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

“Yamari is a hard-working, mild-mannered young man with tons of potential,” Jones said. “We are thrilled to have him join the Monarch family.”

The brothers join combo guard Devin Ceaser and forward Daniel Pounds as members of the 2023 recruiting class.
