The 2023 Atlantic hurricane season is upon us, beginning June 1. Until Nov. 30, oceanic and atmospheric conditions near the Earth’s equator are more favorable for the creation of low-pressure storm systems that develop into tropical cyclones and hurricanes.
Situated on the East Coast around the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay and featuring thousands of miles of coastline, Hampton Roads is a region particularly vulnerable to major weather events.
