Strong storms could be headed to Hampton Roads on Tuesday afternoon.
The National Weather Service in Wakefield is warning of a potential for severe weather and heavy rainfall from 2 to 10 p.m.. Most of the region is under a marginal risk of isolated severe thunderstorms, but the threat is lower in eastern portions of Virginia Beach and Chesapeake.
Hazards include a potential for 40-60 mph wind gusts and a chance of large hail.
After 4 p.m., the weather service is predicting more widespread showers with a possibility for heavy rainfall and localized flooding in urban or poor drainage areas. Rainfall is expected to be between 1-2 inches. Some areas may receive more.
