Judge Pamela Baskervill found in August that “Gender Queer: A Memoir” by Maia Kobabe and “A Court of Mist and Fury” by Sarah J. Maas are not obscene under state law. Therefore, the court could not restrict children’s access to the titles in bookstores such as Barnes & Noble and libraries, as the petitioner requested.
