Public schools throughout Hampton Roads entered the new year with concern and trepidation regarding winter sports. After a brief bit of optimism, the season cam crashing down like a house of cards.
Portsmouth is following a trend in Hampton Roads. This week, Chesapeake Public Schools, Hampton City Schools and Newport News Public Schools all canceled winter sports.
The division will allow athletes to play club sports and for a high school team at the same time. Originally, students were told they couldn’t do both.
