Take time in December for these five Virginia Beach events

With so many holiday demands on your time, here are five things you don’t want to miss in December:

“Home for the Holidays” benefit concert with The Guava Jam Band and friends takes place Dec. 7 and 8 at The Sandler Center for the Performing Arts. This hourlong show is perfect for all ages and features holiday tunes the entire family will enjoy. Shows are at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. Dec 7 and 4 p.m. Dec. 8. Arrive an hour early and your children will have the opportunity to visit with Santa in the Sandler Center lobby.

Admission is free for military and children 12 and younger; all others are $12. All proceeds benefit the USO of Hampton Roads and Central Virginia which support local service members and their families. For more information visit homefortheholidaysconcert.com.

Rock Star Booking’s annual “Rocking the Stocking” to benefit The Noblemen’s toy drive takes place from 4 to 11 p.m. Dec. 8 at Calypso. Featuring more than 50 bands and solo acoustic acts on two stages, including Chris Hall of LittKeys, Bennett Wales, Runnin’ Shine, Mitch Foutz, Austin Ferguson and many more!

Admission is one unwrapped toy per person or a $10 donation to The Noblemen.

Dress up in your best Santa-themed outfit, grab your friends and join us on Dec. 14 for “VB SantaCon,” Virginia Beach’s annual Oceanfront Christmas bar crawl. The event starts at 1 p.m. at The Shack. From there, costumed revelers will walk to seven popular restaurants, including Chix Sea Grill & Bar, Calypso, Peabody’s and Lunasea; each location will offer food and drink specials.

This event is free. You must be at least 21 years old to attend. The Noblemen will be collecting toys at The Shack and ask that you bring a new unwrapped toy for a child in need.

The fifth annual Toys For Tots toy drive and Christmas party takes place from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Dec. 20 at Shorebreak Pizza and Taphouse. This fun-for-all-ages event features photos with Santa, entertainment by a tableside magician, live music with Vinyl Headlights and a free craft beer tasting. Admission is an unwrapped toy which the U.S. Marines are collecting for local children in need.

Delight in the beauty and magic of the holiday classic, “The Nutcracker” with Ballet Virginia at The Sandler Center for Performing Arts Dec. 20-22. Enjoy coastal Virginia’s professional ballet company along with talented local dancers, imaginative choreography and staging. Symphonicity, the symphony orchestra of Virginia Beach, will perform Tchaikovsky’s magnificent score.
