OUT OF THE BOX

March 5 and 12 are the final Out of the Box performances at the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts. This free after-work event takes place 6-8:30 p.m. in the Miller Studio and is the perfect setting to meet up with co-workers and friends to enjoy a night of music, food and drinks. 44TH ANNUAL OYSTER ROAST AND CRAFT BEER FESTIVAL

The Virginia Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad’s annual fundraiser takes place from 1-5 p.m. March 8 at the Virginia Beach Convention Center. It features oysters, barbecue and sides, live music by The Michael Clark Band, tastings from local craft breweries, casino tables and local artists. Proceeds go toward purchasing necessary life-saving equipment and supplies.

9TH ANNUAL LEPRECON

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with 1,200-plus locals on March 14 at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront for LepreCon VB 2020, an informal gathering of partygoers dressed in creative green attire. Festivities begin at 1 p.m. at The Shack, and revelers walk together to five Oceanfront restaurants. Bar-to-bar movement will be posted on the LepreCon VB 2020 event page on Facebook, so you can join this fun event anywhere along the way. LepreCon takes place rain or shine and is free and open to anyone 21 years of age or older.

MARCH BEACH CLEANUP

Show your love for our beaches by helping the local chapter of the Surfrider Foundation clean the beach on March 21. Bring your friends and kids and meet at 9 a.m. at Coastal Edge (316 21st St.), where Surfrider will provide instruction along with gloves, grabbers and bags. Return to Coastal Edge at 11:30 a.m. for the free cleanup after party with food, music and family fun. ARTINI RED CARPET

The Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art’s annual gala fundraiser “ARTini” will take place 7-10 p.m. March 27. This event features artistic martinis created by local mixologists and creative cuisine from local restaurants. The theme this year is “Red Carpet,” and guests are encouraged to wear their most fashion-forward outfit and pose for the cameras as they walk the red carpet. Tickets include ARTini tasting and voting, small bites, DJs, two drink tickets and complimentary valet. Proceeds from this event support Generation MOCA’s mission to create a positive impact in Coastal Virginia through the arts.

STRAUSS ROSENKAVALIER SUITE

The Virginia Symphony Orchestra presents the “Strauss Rosenkavalier Suite” 2:30 p.m. March 29 at the Sandler Center for Performing Arts. This is one of the last chances to see Grammy Award-winning conductor JoAnn Falletta perform before she leaves her position at the symphony this June.
